| Keep looking for the links page and free backgrounds, you're almost there. The Rainbow Project 1 produced by and about persons who have mental illness. All of the people interviewed are in recovery now and under treatment for their disorders. Some of the disorders you will hear about are Manic Depression(bipolar depression, Major Depression, paranoid schizophrenia, split personality. You will go through their illness from onset to recovery. Describing their different treatments and mis-diagnoses, stumbling blocks as well as their hopes and dreams along the way. Most patients see a psychologist and psychotherapist or case managers or psychiatric nurse. Patients can feel hallucinations, delusions,trauma,anxiety fear, sadness, melancholia, despair to name a few. We hope to eradicate the isolation and frustration that mental illness stigma creates. With better public awareness of the biological basis for these diseases we can make some headway. By you listening to this video we hope your personal understanding grows about how we are touched by mental illness. You will see how we are recovering from mental illnesses. We are family members. We are your neighbors. We can understand because we've been there. We are there every day....just like you. We support and encourage each other, we educate and inform. Our continuing objectives are to eradicate mental illness and improve the quality of life of those affected by these diseases. To those ends we educate people. This video is an excellent opportunity for you to learn about mental illness from those who have experienced it in their own life. |
